The idea for the film first came about back in Christmas 2005 when John got a Darth Tater potato head as a present. His brother and sister-in-law who gave it to him said that he had to use it in a film (or else).

It took until July 2006 to dream up the idea of making a Blind Date spoof using potato heads, after seeing they'd made a couple of other Star Wars figures (Spud Trooper and R2-Potatoo). Over the following months we talked about the events in the story between ourselves and with Gareth Preston and Josh Fielden. One thing that inspired our thoughts were the spoof toy films made by Adam and Joe. We had to do some research on Blind Date which involved looking for clips on YouTube (of which there aren't many) to get it as accurate as possible.

Filming began in early December 2006 after finally deciding to make the film using stop-motion techniques, which John had limited experience in after working on Westlake's Tales from the Woodland Ghetto. There were many late nights of filming until the early hours of the morning over a period of a week involving us along with help from Gareth and Amy's brother John. Each shot was captured frame by frame directly onto computer to be edited together later.

The final week of post-production involved writing the script and recording the dialogue before editing the frames together could begin. The highlight of which was Gareth speaking into his kettle to get the sound of Darth Vader's voice.

The longest period of editing was an entire day of sitting infront of the computer to get a complete edit together for the Westlake Christmas party that evening. However, due to lack of time a version with missing sound effects and music was debuted. It took one more day to finish off the sound and add graphics.

And now the film is ready to be unleashed upon the galaxy. May the Force be with you.
